The primary mission of the National Arts Council of Botswana (NACB) Arts and Culture Grant Applications 2023 is to foster the growth and protection of the Arts and Culture Sector in Botswana, both locally and internationally. Through their Grants Programme, the NACB aims to bolster the creative economy by supporting the development, promotion, and preservation of the country’s creative industries.

The National Arts Council of Botswana is currently accepting applications for its Arts and Culture Grant.

This grant opportunity is open to a diverse range of individuals and entities within the creative sector. Artists, trusts, societies, associations, and companies operating in the arts and culture domain are all encouraged to apply for financial assistance and partnership with the NACB.

The Arts and Culture Grant is specifically designed to bolster the Creative and Cultural Sector. It aims to provide opportunities for arts and culture practitioners to initiate projects, showcase and enhance their talents, safeguard and celebrate cultural heritage, and contribute to the overall growth of the sector.

This grant will go towards support of the Creative and Cultural sector to provide opportunities for arts and culture practitioners to start projects, demonstrate and develop their talent, preserve and promote culture and grow the sector. The following are the key areas that the Arts and Culture Grant will support:

Festivals: the implementation of arts and culture festivals that represent diverse cultural characteristic such dance, language, dress, food, practices

Exhibitions/Fairs/Shows: support the public showing of works of art, manufactured goods, or artistic skill

Research: programmes/studies that support the collection of data, generate publications or reports on arts and culture industry

Talent identification: process of identifying skills interest & abilities through competitions, scouting, auditions etc

Capacity building/Training: programmes focusing on the identification and development of the skills, expertise, products and services

Product Development: the process that includes the conceptualization/ideation, design, development, testing, promotion/marketing of goods or services

Association/Trust/Society/-Company: funding support for arts and culture clubs, companies, trusts, societies

Infrastructure Maintenance (Arts Facilities): Activities performed to retain and restore the functionality of creative hubs, markets, studios, theatres, exhibition halls

Talent Management: Services that promote, market and protect the interest artists to ensure smart business decisions

Production/Recording (Music/-Film/Video): Activities that facilitate the production of creative works
