Law Development Centre Uganda Call for Applications to join the Bar Course 2023/2024
The Academic Registrar, Law Development Centre invites applications for admission to the Bar Course, 2023/2024 Academic Year. The Bar Course shall be conducted at our three campuses in Kampala, Lira and Mbarara through physical learning or a blend of physical and virtual learning. LDC shall have only one intake for the Academic Year 2023/2024.
Eligibility
To be eligible for admission to the Bar Course, the applicant should be:
a) A holder of a bachelor’s degree in Law granted by a University in Uganda whose Law programme has been accredited by the Law Council and National Council for Higher Education.
i) The bachelor’s degree in Law must have been obtained from a university or institution of higher education duly licensed or chartered under the Laws of Uganda and accredited by the Law Council. The license or charter should have been obtained prior to your enrolment on the LLB programme.
b) A citizen of Uganda who is a holder of a law degree obtained from a University or Institution in a foreign country operating the common law system and recognized by the Law Council of Uganda. Applicants with foreign qualifications must obtain from the Law Council prior clearance in writing. Applications received online with foreign qualifications but without clearance from the Law Council shall not be processed.
c) A former Bar Course student intending to repeat the entire Bar Course or subject(s) as provided for by the applicable Rules for passing the Bar Course.
How to apply
The application fee is 200,000/- payable to the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) account. Please visit www.ldc.ac.ug and click on ‘APPLY NOW‘ to complete the application process. After filling and submitting your form online, the system will prompt you to upload your academic documents and generate a Payment Reference Number (PRN). The PRN is required to make a payment of your application fees in the bank. For any inquiry about payments, send an email to finance@ldc.ac.ug.
Please note
1. Only application forms submitted online with evidence of payment shall be received and processed.
2. Applicants will have the option during application to indicate their preferred campus. However, an applicant admitted to the Bar Course may be posted to any LDC campus at the discretion of the Centre.
3. Applicants who were admitted during the Academic Year 2022/2023 and received offer letters need not reapply. They will receive admission letters of Academic Year 2023/2024
4. Current undergraduate students who have not yet completed their LLB degree programme are ineligible to apply for admission unless they are cleared by their respective Law Schools as having qualified for award of the LLB. The respective University Law Schools must provide lists of eligible students by 31 July 2023.
