UDLS Licence Application Requirements!

1. Learner/Provisional Driving Licence

  • Proof of payment
  • Proof of Enrolment from a licensed driving school
  • Duly filled application (medical) form for a Learner Driving Licence
  • Proof of Identification

2. Full/New Driving Licence

  • Proof of payment
  • Original Learner Driving Licence stamped by the Inspectorate of Vehicles (IOV)
  • Proof of Identification

3. Renewal of an Expired Driving Licence

  • Original Driving Licence/police letter
  • Proof of payment
  • Proof of identification

NOTE:

If your Driving Licence has not been renewed within a period of two years from the date of expiry It is categorized as a “lapsed” Driving Licence Renewal of a “lapsed Driving Licence.

  • Original lapsed’ Driving Licence or police letter (if original Driving Licence is lost)
  • Copy of the Driving Licence or police letter stamped by IOV
  • Proof of Payment
  • Proof of identification

4. Replacement of a Lost Driving Licence

(Applicable to only lost and valid licences)
  • Police Letter
  • Proof of payment
  • Proof of identification

5. Class Extension

  • Original valid Driving Licence
  • Proof of payment
  • Copy of Driving Licence/ original Learner
  • Driving Licence stamped by IOV
  • Proof of Identification

6. Foreign Exchange

All foreign conversion applicants should have received their Driving Licence at the minimum required 18 years of age as set out by Ugandan law
  • Original valid foreign Driving Licence.
  • Proof of payment
  • Duly filled application(medical form) for a Driving Licence
  • If Driving Licence is not in English, translation from the corresponding embassy OR the Makerere University School of Languages:
  • Proof of Identification
  • Proof of legal stay in the foreign Driving Licence issuing country at the time of acquiring the Driving Licence

i. Nationals: passport (or national ID for Kenyans and Rwandans)

ii. Foreigners; student visas, diplomatic visas, resident or work permits, and dependant passes

For proof of Identification, consider the following:

i. Ugandans-National ID or NIN

ii. Foreigners – Original valid refugee ID/Original valid passport and valid visa/ Original valid National ID for Kenyans and Rwandans

Work permit, dependant pass student pass, diplomatic visa, or certificate of residence
